นายอลงกรณ์ พลบุตร รองประธานคณะกรรมการยุทธศาสตร์ พรรคประชาธิปัตย์ ให้สัมภาษณ์สื่อมวลชนเกี่ยวกับบทบาทของพรรคประชาธิปัตย์ในฐานะฝ่ายค้านวันนี้ว่า พรรคประชาธิปัตย์พร้อมทำหน้าที่ฝ่ายค้านในสภาผู้แทนราษฎรเพื่อถ่วงดุลและตรวจสอบรัฐบาลภายใต้ระบบรัฐสภาอย่างเต็มที่โดยจะร่วมมือและทำงานร่วมกับพรรคฝ่ายค้านอื่นๆ
นอกจากนี้จะเดินหน้าตรวจสอบปราบปรามการคอร์รัปชั่นอย่างเข้มข้นตามนโยบายของ ดร.เฉลิมชัย ศรีอ่อน หัวหน้าพรรคประชาธิปัตย์ ต่อข้อถามเรื่องรัฐบาลเสียงข้างน้อยจะเดินหน้าอย่างไร อดีตรัฐมนตรีอลงกรณ์ตอบว่า รัฐบาลใหม่มีเสียง ส.ส.รัฐบาลไม่ถึงกึ่งหนึ่งในสภาผู้แทนราษฎรต้องอาศัยเสียงสนับสนุนจากพรรคประชาชนซึ่งเป็นฝ่ายค้านถือเป็นรัฐบาลเสียงข้างน้อยที่ไร้เสถียรภาพมากที่สุด วันใดที่พรรคประชาชนไม่สนับสนุนก็ไปไม่รอด นายกรัฐมนตรีต้องลาออกหรือยุบสภา โดยเฉพาะจุดเสี่ยงจุดตายของรัฐบาลคือคดีฮั้วเลือกสว.และคดีเขากระโดงซึ่งเกี่ยวโยงโดยตรงกับพรรคแกนนำรัฐบาล และขอฝากข้อความไปถึง นายอนุทิน ชาญวีรกุล นายกรัฐมนตรีว่าอย่าเข้าไปแทรกแซงคดีดังกล่าวเด็ดขาดทั้งนายกรัฐมนตรีซึ่งเป็นหัวหน้าพรรคภูมิใจไทยและรัฐมนตรีคนอื่นๆ
ส่วนประเด็นการยื่นถอดถอนนายอนุทิน ชาญวีรกูล นายกรัฐมนตรีและหัวหน้าพรรคภูมิใจไทย และ นายณัฐพงษ์ เรืองปัญญาวุฒิ หัวหน้าพรรคประชาชนซึ่งเป็นผู้นำฝ่ายค้านโดยพรรคเพื่อไทยนั้น นายอลงกรณ์กล่าวว่า ส.ส.พรรคเพื่อไทยยื่นถอดถอนทั้ง2ท่านให้พ้นสมาชิกภาพ สส. จากปม MOAถือเป็นสิทธิ์ที่ทำได้ภายใต้กรอบของกฎหมายและรัฐธรรมนูญ ตนไม่มีความเห็นและไม่ก้าวล่วงอำนาจหน้าที่ของศาลรัฐธรรมนูญ สำหรับการอภิปรายไม่ไว้วางใจรัฐบาลนั้น นายอลงกรณ์ตอบว่า เร็วเกินไปที่จะพูดเรื่องนี้ ขณะนี้ยังตั้งรัฐบาลไม่เสร็จ น่าจะหารือในวิปฝ่ายค้านภายหลังรัฐบาลแถลงนโยบายต่อรัฐสภาและรัฐบาลทำงานไประยะหนึ่งก่อน.
