“ผมยืนยันว่าการปฏิบัติการทางทหารรุกกลับดังกล่าวเป็นไปตามหลักความจำเป็นและความได้สัดส่วน (Necessity & Proportionality)ภายใต้หลักการป้องกันตนเอง (Right of Self-Defence)ตามกฎบัตรสหประชาชาติ ” นายอลงกรณ์ อดีตรองประธานคณะกรรมาธิการการทหารของสภาผู้แทนราษฎรยังกล่าวด้วยว่าเราต้องตัดไฟแต่ต้นลม ขจัดภัยที่ต้นเหตุเพราะกัมพูชามีการเคลื่อนไหวทางทหารที่พร้อมรุกล้ำอธิปไตยและบูรณภาพแห่งดินแดนของไทยชัดเจน และเป็นฝ่ายเปิดฉากโจมตีไทยก่อน
